Share running recaps without exposing more than you intended

A running recap should make the activity understandable while leaving you in control of what others see. A pace chart, route image and shared session result can reveal different information.

A running recap should make the activity understandable while leaving you in control of what others see. A pace chart, route image and shared session result can reveal different information. Review the final image or page before sending it, even when it was generated automatically.

Decide the purpose and audience

A private training note may need detailed splits; a club celebration may need only the session name and a group photograph. Agree permission before including identifiable people or another runner's results. Someone taking part in a run has not necessarily agreed to public promotion.

Keep the caption factual. Distinguish an official race result from a watch recording, a friendly challenge or a demonstration. If you adjusted or cropped an image, ensure it still gives an honest account of the result.

Inspect the map and identifiers

Check whether the start, finish or route reveals a home, workplace or regular meeting place. Review participant names, profile images, session codes and clickable links. A privacy setting in the original app may not remove details from an image you have already exported.

The running-location privacy checklist covers the distinction between stored activities and live links. Inspect both the exported card and the destination reached by its link. Use a private audience when the purpose does not require public distribution.

Explain the numbers

State whether the time is elapsed or moving time if that distinction matters. A pause, GPS gap or distance adjustment can affect comparisons. Do not label a friendly GPS leaderboard as certified event timing. Where results come from an organiser, link the official results and follow the organiser's publishing arrangements.

A useful recap can be short: the session, what happened, the measurement source and a relevant next step. It does not need an exaggerated performance claim or an invented testimonial to be interesting.

Check the released sharing workflow

Runwiv previews session recaps and social running features, but public access remains in pre-launch. This checklist does not confirm a particular export button, card format or replay is shipped. Review current availability and try the spectator demo to see the public demonstration.

For organisers preparing the next event, the session-brief builder creates a practical invitation. It creates text for you to review and share yourself; it does not post to a club or social account.
